Images of Zambia

Covering some 750,000 square kilometres, with an immense wilderness embracing 19 national parks, both the Zaire and Zambezi Rivers have their source in Zambia, the latter flowing through the world famous Victoria Falls and Lake Kariba, en route to the Indian Ocean. Livingstone is the Zambian point of access to Victoria Falls.

Main attractions:

First sighted by Dr David Livingstone some 150 years ago, views of the Victoria Falls from Zambia are dramatic, whether seen from Knife Edge Point or from the base of the Falls at the end of a steep track leading down to the gorge. Besides the relaxing pleasure of a sundowner cruise, fishing or viewing game in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, adrenaline seekers can go abseiling, jet boating, white water rafting or bungee jumping.

Other Information

There are three climatic seasons, November to March is hot with thunderstorms, April to July has dry warm days, cold nights and early mornings and August to October is dry - warm to hot, especially in October. English is widely spoken and the unit of currency is the Kwacha although credit cards and most foreign currencies are accepted in the Livingstone area. Malaria prophylaxis is recommended.
